Home | Courses | Nūr al-Īḍāḥ (Part 02)

Course Overview

  • 1. Foundational Knowledge: The course will introduce students to this esteemed primer, which serves as a gateway to the principles of Hanafi jurisprudence. As a beginner-level book, it lays a solid groundwork for understanding essential legal concepts and methodologies, making it accessible to those new to the study of Islamic law.
  • 2. Unique Perspective on Fiqh: What sets this course apart is its unique approach to fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence). We will delve into the underlying legal principles that shape Hanafi thought, allowing students to grasp the rationale behind various rulings. By contextualizing the material within broader legal frameworks, participants will appreciate the intricacies of Islamic law more profoundly.
  • 3. Introduction to Legal Maxims: A significant component of the course will focus on introducing students to the key legal maxims that govern the derivation of subsidiary matters from established scenarios. These maxims are essential tools for any jurist, as they provide a systematic way to navigate the complexities of legal reasoning and application.
  • 4. Decoding the text: The course will also focus on meticulously decoding the text of the work, providing students with a nuanced understanding of its content. Special attention will be given to scenarios in which later Hanafi jurists expressed differing opinions, enabling participants to explore the richness of scholarly discourse within the tradition. Through in-depth discussions, we will clarify the correct views among these divergent opinions, fostering a deeper appreciation for the intellectual rigor of the Hanafi school. This analytical approach not only enhances students' comprehension of the text but also equips them with critical thinking skills necessary for navigating complex legal issues.
  • 5. Shedding light on basic proofs: The course also illuminates some fundamental basic proofs and evidences commonly utilized within the Hanafi school of thought. We will explore various sources of evidence, including Quranic verses, Hadith, consensus (ijma), and analogy (qiyas), demonstrating how these elements are integrated into the reasoning processes of Hanafi jurists.

Who is it for

  • While the work is compiled in Arabic, the course will be conducted in the English language, making it accessible to a wider audience of interested students. This bilingual approach ensures that learners can engage with the material effectively, regardless of their primary language.
  • However, a foundational knowledge of basic Arabic is essential, particularly for some discussions presented at the beginning of the course and throughout the sessions. This familiarity with Arabic terminology will enhance students’ understanding of key concepts and enable them to fully appreciate the nuances of the text.
  • By bridging the linguistic gap, the course aims to foster an inclusive learning environment that encourages participation and enriches the educational experience for all students.

I loved Part 2 of the Nur al-Idah course! I found it as beneficial than Part 1 if not more and felt like it really helped me take the next step in my studies. This part helped me see how the different principles connect with each other, which made the subject so much more meaningful. Mufti Muhammad Daud and Mawlana Omer are both amazing teachers — they explain concepts so clearly and break down difficult masā’il in a way that makes them super easy to understand. This course really deepened my appreciation for how fiqh works and motivated me to keep learning.

Alhamdulillah, by the tawfiq of Allah SWT I was able to start and complete this course under the instruction of Shaikh Omar and Mufti Dawood, may Allah preserve them. I highly recommend this course to whoever is looking to immerse themselves into the Hanafi Madhab while still being a beginner in the science. The way the rulings were broken down and made digestible for the students while also providing an in-depth understanding of the framework of the madhab really brought out the sweetness of this book.

I had the opportunity to take and complete this course. This is course is an extension of the first part. The class is taught in a well structured manner. I will recommend this course to anyone who wants to learn and start implementing what they learn. This class helped me improve myself and has inspired me to learn more. The teachers Shaykh Omer and Mufti Muhammad Dawood were very understanding; they want the best for their students. This class will give you as it has given me; a framework and foundation to lean on and build further. I would highly recommend you take both courses
