This course provides an in-depth study of al-Suyūṭī’s extensive masterpiece Tadrīb al-Rāwī, one of the most comprehensive works on ḥadīth nomenclature. Building upon the foundational principles acquired in Muṣṭalaḥ 1, students will explore the full spectrum of terminology, classifications, and technical discussions governing the authentication, transmission, and preservation of ḥadīth.
The course emphasizes advanced applications of ḥadīth terminology, examining case studies drawn from classical literature and demonstrating how the rules outlined by earlier scholars are applied in practice. The depth and breadth of Tadrīb al-Rāwī along with Sh. Awwamh’s extensive footnotes will enable students to approach higher-level ḥadīth research with methodological precision.
