This course presents a detailed historical study of ḥadīth in light of its codification, beginning from the Prophetic era through the earliest generations. Students will examine the socio-historical context, motivations, and methodological developments that shaped the preservation of the Sunnah.
The course explores the different arguments presented by orientalists to attack the codification of the Sunnah, it highlights the weaknesses of their arguments and sheds light upon the authentic history behind the preservation of the Sunnah.
