In this lesson, we delve into the profound contributions of two towering figures in Islamic scholarship, Imam Al-Nawawi and Imam Al-Suyuti. We explore the works of Imam Al-Nawawi, who was born in the small city of Nawa near Damascus. His dedication to Islamic knowledge was evident from a young age, as he preferred studying the Quran over playing with other children. His commitment to learning was so intense that he spent two years without lying down to sleep, only resting when sleep overpowered him. Imam Al-Nawawi’s works, such as “Riyadh al-Salihin” and “Arba’oon,” have left an indelible mark on Islamic scholarship, and his sincerity and devotion to the deen have granted him acceptance both in this world and the hereafter. We also reflect on the life of Imam Al-Suyuti, who was born in Usyut and became known for his extensive contributions to various Islamic disciplines. After the age of 40, Imam Al-Suyuti dedicated himself entirely to worship and writing, producing works in every conceivable field of Islamic knowledge. His legacy is a testament to his profound scholarship and the barakah that Allah bestowed upon him. As we study their works, we pray for the barakah of their knowledge and strive to serve the hadith of the Messenger ﷺ with sincerity and dedication. Through their teachings, we are reminded of the importance of respecting and following the ulama, who are the inheritors of the prophets and the guides to salvation and guidance in this world.
