In our third lesson, we take a deep dive into the definition of Kalam. The lessons discusses each clause within the defintion and what they exclude. Additionally, the difference between jumlah and kalam is mentioned breifly, along with the i’rab of the dhameer al-fasl. Ibn Malik’s two clauses which he added onto the definition of kalam were also discussed in detail, explaining why Abu Hayyan and many later grammarians have not accepted them.
